  • Dining here makes for a very special experience. I like everything I ate. My favourite is the tempura prawns which were very tender and just melted in your mouth.

  • Every single dish was delicious and masterfully cooked, arranged, and served. There was a small miscommunication about allergies through the website, but they were very accommodating and changed all future dishes including the allergy. Very traditional atmosphere with lovely service, and culturally eye-opening into Japanese cuisine.

  • I enjoyed a traditional Japanese box lunch at a centrally located restaurant known for its popularity among older Japanese patrons. While the atmosphere was charming, the prices are on the higher side—around ¥10,000 for two people at lunchtime.

  • What a lovely and delicious Kaiseki 7 course lunch we had here at Tagoto. Each course was prepared beautifully and meticulously. An art that appreciates each ingredient. The dishes were flavorful and healthy. Chef Tachiiri Shouichi and team were very friendly. Peaceful setting. Highly recommend this place for a meal.

  • We wanted to try a kaiseki dinner (and full disclosure, we found this through Lonely Planet). It was wonderful. A variety of small dishes, beautifully presented and served by lovely people. As is so often true in Japan, we found it a relaxing meal with many surprises. If you are in Kyoto and like us want to try a traditional Kyoto restaurant, go.
